How long does it take to mend a broken heart?

It's time to let go. Let go of the harboured feelings. The fustrated emotions, the angered thoughts. It's time to let go. When a supposed blessing is blocked, it's time to evaluate the situation. Was it truly a blessing, or was it a distraction from what God truly had in store for your life?

I think it's the latter — Let me explain.

A few weeks ago I saw Kanye West perform. In the performance, he played hit after hit, and some new songs infused in the mix. In particular, he had a really powerful transition that I feel most people would overlook.

He performed Heartless...
In the song he raps:

"In the night, I hear 'em talk
The coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road
He lost his soul to a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless?
Oh, how could you be so heartless?"

And then this is where the shift came... next he performed All The Love. A new track...

The song starts out with Andre Troutman chanting

"We left all the pain behind"

Then Kanye begins...

"We don't have to worry
And we don't have to hold on
To pain we left behind
Wounds get healed with time"

"And now you got all the love and all the shine
You always want it all the time, tonight
Tonight (It's what you deserve)
And now you got all the love and all the shine
You always want it all the time, yeah, yeah"

And for me, this transition was so subtle but powerful. Kanye showed how even the best of us can become heartbroken. Lost, down, and out, and depressed by a significant other that you thought was a special person in your life for the long term.

But then things shift! You break up, your plans are forced to change, and you have to let go of the planned possibilities and grapple with the reality of the situation.

And it's time to move on. But it's hard; the minor moments remind you of the now-distant past. But I think it's now time to realize that what you wanted was most likely a mirage of the future reality. And to protect your future, the Lord had to end it.

So, like Kanye says... We don't have to worry, and we don't have to hold on..."

Because the future is bright. And now you have work to do.

God removed you from the situation you were working towards. And is now giving you a chance to become prepared for your future reality.

So the question is... Are you going to do the work now, because proper prior planning prevents piss poor preformance.

And when the work is done, the future is bright.

Because now you got all the love. The love you desired, the happiness you craved, the joy your soul needed to be quenched by.

It's what you deserve.

So, to answer my initial question.
How long does it take to mend a broken heart?
As long as it takes.

But do the work.
And at the proper time. God will provide the true blessing you were desiring.
